Mesmerised by Paulabreen Glacier, Svalbard

I have always believed that it is important to practice 'self-care' and be reflective and creative. Particularly, during times like these, when the world and situation around us can sometimes feel difficult, confusing, scary, and sometimes beyond our control. This 'stay home' period, during the covid-19 pandemic, is essential for the welfare of people around us so it is time to stop and embrace this opportunity. Instead of focusing on the downside of being home more than you'd like, try to embrace the situation: spend a little more time connecting (online) with people you love; appreciate the little things (yay the veggie seedlings are growing!); and spend some time doing some of your favourite indoor hobbies that sometimes get pushed to the side during the busy day-to-day life. Stay safe and take care of each other. 💜

I have spent some of my downtime trying to get back into drawing/painting... here I drew and painted one of my favourite glacier fronts, from Paulabreen Glacier in Svalbard. We visited this during the 2015 Glaciology PhD course with UNIS and I remember, quite vividly, being completely in awe at its immense beauty and colours. I have never seen so many shades of blue 😍

I entered a t-shirt design competition…

…And much to my delight, my entry for the Tromsø Skyrace 2020 t-shirt design won the competition this year! Due to cancellation of the skyrace this year, the t-shirt design will be used in 2021 too.
